CONCEPTION REALITY STORY creation Screaming Eagle THIS RIFLE WILL LOOK LIKE THIS FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE REQUEST A CONSULTATION When Andy came into the shop to show us his new tattoo, we all agreed it would make a pretty neat theme for a rifle.
After taking a photo of his tattoo, we digitized it to create a stencil that we could use to paint on the stock. Not wanting the feathers of the eagle and scales of the snake to be lost over the design of the stock, we first painted the areas to give it a brushed steel look. Then we meticulously etched out and painted the design. To tie this build in with the other custom rifles we have created for Andy, we painted "In God We Trust" on the forend of the stock. From there, we used a brand-new fluting pattern we call "banded" that matches another one of his tattoos. We topped it off with Triad rings painted to match and a NightForce scope.
REALITY STORY creation The Dark Knight A Hero Can Be Anyone REQUEST A CONSULTATION As a huge Batman fan, the requirements James gave us for this build were simple and wide open – it needed to be either classic 70's era Batman or current, modern Batman.
As a team we researched both options and ultimately settled on the classic Batman. We ordered a few original comic books and incorporated them into the finish of the stock. We 3D printed a one-of-a-kind adjustable cheek piece with the classic Batman logo, and we meticulously custom mixed paint to match colors from the comic books.
CONCEPTION REALITY STORY creation Kaspar Legacy The Start of the Legacy REQUEST A CONSULTATION Everything about this rifle build is a tribute to a 5th generation run, 120+-year-old company that has grown into a successful corporation with seven subsidiaries spanning20 recessions, one depression, two world wars, oil embargoes, steel shortages, and 21 presidential administrations.
The honeycomb style fluting on the barrel was designed from the shape of the original wire baskets Kaspar Companies’ founder hand-wove more than a century ago and a nod to subsidiary Ranch Hand and their grill guard pattern. We milled out the stock to hold 3-D printed inlays that hold two Texas Gold Rounds from the subsidiary Texas Precious Metals. Then came the paint. We meticulously matched the “Kaspar Blue” paint, using it on accents of the rifle as well as the Kaspar logo on the fore-end of the stock. The orange incorporates brand colors from Horizon Firearms, iota Outdoors, Ranch Hand, and Texas Precious Metals.
CONCEPTION REALITY STORY creation The Rattler DIAMONDS ARE A GUY’S BEST FRIEND REQUEST A CONSULTATION When Kyle went out to check the irrigation lines on his San Antonio ranch, he had no idea he would soon be rushed to the hospital to be treated for a rattlesnake bite.
When he came into our shop looking to have a custom rifle built, he didn’t necessarily have a snake-themed build in mind. But after we heard his story and saw his snakeskin boots and matching wallet, we couldn’t help but make the suggestion. We selected diamond fluting and painted the barrel to look like scales. We designed the stock paint scheme to match the real snakeskin we embedded into it.
CONCEPTION REALITY STORY creation Horizon Origin WHERE IT BEGAN REQUEST A CONSULTATION Something many people don’t know about the Horizon Firearms logo is that it dates back to 1876 when three brothers first settled in North Texas to start a new life. The circle in the middle represents the brothers who had nothing except each other - the three prongs.
It just seemed right to incorporate that into the company logo and it was a must to include in the Horizon Origin project.
For the stock, we took pecan wood harvested from a 100+-year-old tree on the family property that was struck by lighting and created a one-of-a-kind stock from the iota KREMLIN stock design. Then, using their great-great grandad’s original cattle brand, Derrick and Austin branded the stock.
We used the 3-flute, 2-twist spiral fluting pattern that we became known for in our early years of business. And as the original pioneers of the 22 Creedmoor, it was a no-brainer to chamber this build in the wildcat cartridge.
